Project tools, instruction and water provided onsite—please bring your own water container if possible! Please dress for the weather (in layers) and wear closed-toed shoes. March 15 (1 to 4 pm) Invasive Privet Tree Removal -- Join Friends of Bidwell Park remove privet trees. Meet at the Crister Ave entrance to Lower Park (at Vallombrosa Ave). March 16 – (1 pm to 4 pm) Volunteer Tuesdays in the Park -- Restoration Area between picnic sites #24 and 25. Volunteers will remove invasive weed trees (privets and hackberry). Meet between picnic sites 24 and 25 by either walking in from the Madrone pedestrian entrance (off of Vallombrosa Avenue) to the picnic sites or by driving along N. Petersen Drive in the Park. March 18 (6:30 pm to 9 pm) -- Park Watch Training
If you walk, bike or ride horses in Bidwell Park at least 4 hours a month, you can make your park experience even more valuable and fun by joining Park Watch.The requiredtraining session for new volunteers is from 6:30 - 9 pm at the Chico City Council Building in Conference Room 1 at 421 Main Street. There's also a required 2nd group meeting in the Park onSaturday March 20th with location to be announced. March 21 -- Help the Chico Creek Nature Center Help the CCNC prepare for the grand opening of their new building on March 27th. Pull out weeds, fill potholes in the driveway, sweep patios, rake up magnolia cones, etc. Come anytime between 10 am and 3 pm. Sponsored by Friends of Bidwell Park. Meet at the north end of Caper Acres -- walk past the Caper Acres entrance gate toward the paved path. If you arrive late, worksite is near the Council Ring!

March 31 – (noon to 3 pm) Volunteer Wednesdays in the Park -- Meet at Sycamore Pool Bridge -- Volunteers will remove invasive weeds from along a trail that runs along the southside of Big Chico Creek. Park in the One Mile Parking lot on the left side of South Park Drive after you enter the main gate at 4th and Pine Streets. Parking lot is near the horseshoe pits. April 6 & 13 -- (1 pm to 4 pm) -- Volunteer Tuesdays in the Park -- Annie’s Glen & Camelia Way Volunteers will remove invasive plants, weed around oak trees, and remove litter. Meet at the pedestrian bridge over Big Chico Creek (across from Morning Thunder) in the middle of Annie’s Glen (this portion of the park begins where Orient and East 1st Streets intersect in downtown Chico).

April 7 & 14 – (noon to 3 pm) – Volunteer Wednesdays in the Park -- Meet at the Caper Acres Parking lot -- Help remove invasive Japanese privets east of Caper Acres along South Park Drive. If you arrive late, please call 624-3982 to get worksite directions. Wear long sleeves and closed toed shoes --** there is poison oak in the area where volunteers will be working.~~~
April 11 -- (9 am to noon) -- The Big Chico Creek Watershed Citizen Monitoring Program-- will conduct water quality monitoring at Five Mile Recreation Area -- just east of the Manzanita Bridge on the south side of Big Chico Creek (meet in the Centennial Way parking lot).

April 17 Spring Trail Days in Upper Park – worksite location to be announced -- (9 am to noon)
Volunteers will help provide trail repair and maintenance on Upper Park trails. The workday will last until noon or longer for volunteers who wish to continue. Call Trail Crew Leader Lloyd Johns at 530-624-9672 for work site location.

April 24 – (10 am to 1 pm) EARTH DAY IN BIDWELL PARK – Volunteer- sign in at two locations: Upper Bidwell Park for trail work and in Lower Bidwell Park at Cedar Grove off of East 8th Street. Projects will take place throughout Bidwell Park and around the Nature Center, Deer Pens and Cedar Grove area.
